The exhibition Are we so different?
I am delighted to present the exhibition "Are We So Different? A Call to Reflection", which brings together 22 large-format colour photographs, captured in the most ordinary moments of the lives of people living on the margins of society. These portraits were taken in locations as diverse as Wellington Street in Sherbrooke, in Canada, Europe and Asia.
Marcel Morin, guided by the fundamental questions of humanity, is more interested in the commonalities that unite people than in the differences that separate them. He wants the audience to reflect on these similarities and on our own perception of marginalized people by observing his photos, to which he adds a brief staging and striking quotes.
It is important to emphasize that Mr. Morin does not just capture the moment, he takes the time to establish a warm and human contact with his subjects. He approaches with respect and never forces the note, letting each photo arrive at its own pace. This exhibition is a call to reflect on our own humanity and on our capacity to see the common points that connect us to each other, rather than the differences that separate us.
The exhibition “Are we so different?” has been presented since 2019 in several broadcast centers, cultural centers and museums, here in Quebec and in China.

Zhou Jumin and Marcel Morin
New China is celebrating the 70th anniversary of its founding this year. To mark this milestone, two artists - one Chinese, the other Canadian - have joined forces in an exhibition under the theme "Strolling around the world". While Zhou Jumin highlights the charm of Chinese painting, Marcel Morin suggests opening up to a sensitive universe through photography.
